A small editorial detail caught my attention, the way headings related to body text, and a look at realherschel maintained that careful relationship, structural details like that show up to readers who notice them and the writers here have clearly thought about every level of the piece rather than just the words.

OK — have been messing about with this thing for maybe four months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d write something up since someone asked me the other day. I’m UK based, mostly bet football and racing, small stakes, for context.

The reason I started using it was honestly pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an ew payout actually came to once you get five places instead of three. Basically I’d wing it and moan when the payout landed. Now type the odds in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator is the bit I open most — type in the price and your stake and it shows returns straight away, fractions or decimals. It also handles the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know got it wrong. If you want a look, it’s over at match bet calculator — free, no signup.

The thing that genuinely shifted things for me is the geekier tools. They’ve got an implied probability calculator that shows the overround, plus a kelly staking tool — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is decent when I’m covering two or three runners.

Couple of gripes. Its layout is very functional, let’s say — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s fine but the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. And nothing on the app store, just the site — slight shame just flagging it.

So yeah. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does the job. Anyone who still adds it up in their head, give it a go — saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.

Appreciated that the writer trusted the reader to follow along without constant restating of earlier points, and a look at vexarounity continued that respect for the reader, treating an audience as capable adults rather than as people to be hand held through every paragraph is something I notice and value highly across the open internet today.
