Right — have been messing about with this thing for about five months now and it’s stuck on my phone, reckon I’d chuck my thoughts in since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am in the UK, mainly bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.

The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever get my head round what an ew return actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d eyeball it and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.

The single bet calculator is the part I open most — you put in the price and your stake and you get returns with no faffing, either odds format. It also handles the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, which is where I’d always mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at free dutching calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

What actually made a difference were the more serious extras. They’ve got an odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly staking tool — I run quarter kelly as the full version is terrifying. The dutch tool is decent when I’m splitting a race.

It’s not perfect mind. Its layout looks very functional, let’s say — not much flash, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it’s fine but the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me but you asked.

Anyway. Doesn’t cost anything, not plastered in adverts, does the job. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, try it — saves me a fair few arguments with the bookie.

The depth of coverage felt about right for the format, neither shallow nor overwhelming, and a look at samsungfoundryforum kept that calibration going, getting the depth right for blog format is genuinely difficult because too shallow loses experts and too deep loses beginners but this site nailed it nicely which I really do appreciate.

A genuine pleasure to find a site that publishes at a sustainable cadence rather than chasing the daily content treadmill, and a look at banehmagic confirmed the careful publication rhythm, sites that prioritise quality over frequency are rare and this one has clearly chosen the slower pace which I appreciate as a reader.

Now feeling the quiet pleasure of finding writing that takes itself seriously without being self serious, and a stop at longtermbusinesspartnerships extended that subtle pleasure, the gap between earnest and pretentious is fine and this site has clearly chosen to land on the earnest side without slipping over into pretentious which is impressive.

Picked this up while looking for something else and ended up reading every paragraph because it was actually informative, and after zylavocapital I was sure I would come back, that does not happen often when most sites bury the useful parts under endless ads and pop ups today and across most categories online.

OK — been using this thing for maybe four months now and I keep coming back, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me a few days back. I’m UK based, mostly bet football and racing, nothing mad, so take it how you like.

The reason I started using it was actually embarrassing — I never could figure out what an each way payout actually came to when the place terms changed. I’d just eyeball it and then be surprised. These days I type the odds in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.

The single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — you put in the price and your stake and it shows profit and total return straight away, either odds format. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, yankees, which is where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it lives at free match betting calculator — free, no signup.

The thing that actually made a difference were the geekier extras. There’s an odds-to-probability thing that shows what margin’s baked in, and a kelly criterion calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is terrifying. Dutching calculator is decent for when I’m spreading across selections.

Couple of gripes. Its interface is a bit basic — not much frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s fine but the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me just flagging it.

Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. If you even now adds it up in their head, have a look — it’s saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
