Reading this on a slow Sunday and finding it perfectly suited to a slow Sunday read, and a quick stop at thesandiegoleague kept the same gentle pace, content that fits the mood of the moment is something I notice and remember and this site has the kind of pace that suits relaxed reading sessions especially well.

So — been using this thing for something like five months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. Am based in the UK, mainly do football and horses, small stakes, just so you know where I’m coming from.

The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I could never get my head round what an ew return actually came to once you get five places instead of three. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. Now punch the numbers in before every slip, even the boring singles.

The single bet calculator tool is the one I open most — type in the price and your stake and it shows returns straight away, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — trebles maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that’s where I’d always got it wrong. If you want a look, it lives at yankee calc and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

What actually made a difference is the geekier tools. The odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly staking tool — I use half kelly since full stakes are terrifying. The dutch tool is handy too when I’m splitting a race.

Couple of gripes. Its design looks very functional, let’s say — not much frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s usable but the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s no proper app, just the site — fine by me but you asked.

So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, not plastered in adverts, does the job. Anyone who honestly adds it up in their head, give it a go — it’s saved me a load of “wait, that’s it?” moments.

Felt slightly impressed without being able to point to one specific reason, and a look at ThirtyMale continued that diffuse positive feeling, when content works at a level you cannot easily articulate the writer is doing something with craft rather than just delivering information and that is something I have learned to recognise.

Better than the average post on this subject by some distance, and a look at apkcontainer reinforced that, you can tell within the first paragraph that the writer here actually cares about the topic rather than just covering it for the sake of having something to publish that week or that day.

Felt the post had been quietly polished rather than aggressively styled, and a look at zylavocapital confirmed the same understated polish, sites whose quality reveals itself slowly rather than announcing itself loudly are the kind I trust more deeply because the trust is not based on first impressions of marketing but actual substance.
