Generally I bookmark sparingly to avoid building up a bookmark graveyard but this one earned a permanent slot, and a stop at zavirotrustco extended that permanence designation, the few sites I keep permanent bookmarks for are sites I expect to use repeatedly and this one has clearly cleared that expectation bar today.

Thanks for putting this online without locking it behind email signups or paywalls, and a quick visit to zz-meta kept that open feel going, content that trusts the reader to come back rather than gating access is the kind of approach I will reward with regular return visits over time happily.

So — been on this thing for something like five months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. Am UK based, generally stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, for context.

What got me on it was actually embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an ew return would be with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just wing it and get a shock. Now stick my stake in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.

The single bet calculator is the one I open most — you drop in the price and your stake and it shows profit and total return with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the multiples — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, a yankee, which is where I always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here super heinz betting calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

The thing that really changed how I bet were the more serious tools. The odds-to-probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly calculator — I run quarter kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is handy too if I’m splitting a race.

Not all sunshine though. The layout looks a bit basic — no flash, it’s clearly function over form. On my phone it’s usable although the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. And nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me but you asked.

Right, that’s me. Free, no ads shoved in your face, works. If anyone honestly adds it up in their head, have a look — it’s saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.

Looking at the surface design and the substance together this site has both right, and a look at shopthomasashbourne reinforced that integrated quality, sites where presentation and content reinforce each other rather than fighting are sites with full editorial coherence and this one has clearly invested in both layers in a balanced way.

So — been using this thing for about six months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m based in the UK, mainly stick to footie and the horses, small stakes, for context.

What got me on it was actually pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever work out what an ew payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

Their single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — you put in stake and odds and it shows the return straight away, either odds format. It also handles the multiples — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, a yankee, and that’s where I’d always mess it up. If you want a look, it’s over at yankee betting — free, no signup.

One thing that really shifted things for me is the geekier bits. They’ve got an implied probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly tool — I use half kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. The dutch tool is decent for when I’m covering two or three runners.

Couple of gripes. The layout feels very functional, let’s say — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s usable although the bigger tables are a squeeze. There’s no app, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me but worth saying.

So yeah. Free, barely any ads, does what it says. If you still does the maths on paper, try it — it’s saved me plenty of arguments with the bookie.

A quiet kind of confidence runs through the writing, and a look at sega-live carried that same understated assurance, confidence without bragging is the most attractive register for online writing and the writers here have clearly developed it through practice rather than affecting it through stylistic tricks that would feel hollow eventually.
